When I was 12 years old, I gave my life to Jesus at a youth event. Three weeks later I went on a short-term trip to Mexico where my perspective of the world was turned upside down. I saw the incredible need all around me and people who had never heard the Gospel. It was then that I knew God was calling me to serve Him.
I received Jesus into my life at a young age, and a few years later went on a trip to Mexico at the age of 12. One night, while spending time in prayer and listening to a worship song, the lyrics quoted Isaiah 6:9, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" That night I told the Lord, "Here am I. Send me!"
After both going on numerous mission trips and each spending a year after high school receiving discipleship, we both individually felt called to receive more training in theology. We ended up at Bible school in Chicago where we met and immediately connected because of our common passion for international cross-cultural work. We were married two years later. Ben majored in International Ministry and Kathleen majored in Biblical Studies, and it was in Bible college that God took our passion for missions and put vision behind it. We knew we were called to go to least-reached people--those who had never heard and would never have an opportunity to hear the Gospel unless someone goes and tells them. We both engaged in a thriving church in Chicago and gained ministry experience while serving in both the youth and young adults ministries, personal evangelism, homeless ministry, discipleship, media, prayer events, preaching, and leading mission trips. We both received our license as ministers with the Assemblies of God in the fall of 2012 and we are ready to head to the field in June 2014!
